Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami for 125m over two years. Inter Miami CF, commonly known as Inter Miami, is a professional soccer team based in Miami, Florida. The club was established in 2018 and began competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020 as an expansion team. Inter Miami is co-owned by English footballer David Beckham, who played for several top clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Inter Miami's Formation and Ownership:
The idea of bringing a professional soccer team to Miami was first proposed by David Beckham when he signed with the LA Galaxy in 2007. As part of his contract, Beckham was given the option to purchase an MLS expansion team at a discounted price of $25 million. In 2014, he exercised this option and announced his plans to bring a team to Miami.
Beckham faced numerous challenges in securing a stadium site for the team. After several failed attempts, including proposals for waterfront locations and public parks, Inter Miami finally secured a site in the city's Overtown neighborhood in 2018. However, due to legal and logistical issues, the club decided to change its location to Fort Lauderdale temporarily while continuing to search for a permanent home in Miami.
Inter Miami's Name and Logo:
The name "Inter Miami" pays homage to the international appeal of the city and its diverse population. The term "Inter" is derived from "international," while "Miami" represents the club's strong connection to the city. The team's logo features two herons facing each other with their legs intertwined, forming an "M" shape. The herons symbolize freedom, elegance, and strength.
