Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami for 125m over two years. Inter Miami CF, commonly known as Inter Miami, is a professional soccer team based in Miami, Florida. The club was established in 2018 and began competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020 as an expansion team. Inter Miami is co-owned by English footballer David Beckham, who played for several top clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid.

After several failed attempts, including proposals for waterfront locations and public parks, Inter Miami finally secured a site in the city's Overtown neighborhood in 2018. However, due to legal and logistical issues, the club decided to change its location to Fort Lauderdale temporarily while continuing to search for a permanent home in Miami.
